Mothman Festival
2021 Collection
The centerpiece of this project is the (mostly) hand-made Mothman Festival Poster, printed with a combination of many printing presses and printmaking techniques. Around that, a collection of "swag" festival goers would receive with their ticket purchase were designed, including prints of the original poster, a screen printed canvas tote bag, matching t-shirt, and steel event pins.
The background illustrations were created with Adobe Illustrator, the typography was hand picked/hand set on a printing press, and the Mothman illustration was carved into a grey linoleum block, and printed with a large scale printing press. All photo manipulations done in Adobe Photoshop.
Mothman Poster Process
Beginning Mothman design sketches followed by the final sketch, in progress to begin the carving process.
First typography tests, on the left the final Mothman heading type, and to the right, hand lining paragraph text for type tests.
Final carved Linoleum block for printing.

Block print combined with the final illustration of the infamous Point Pleasant bridge.
Paper quality and color experimentation.
Finished best version of the poster, with accent text added and finalized type blocking.
